A widespread phenomenon has been taking place recently and it is called cougar hunting. “Cougar” referring to an older woman who is on the prowl for nothing more than a fun night or exciting relationship with a young man.

Also referred to as MILFs, these older women tend to be attractive, fit, aged anywhere from in their 30’s to 60’s and know exactly what they are after. Here are 7 reasons why cougars prefer to date younger men:

Make Them Feel Young Again

There is no doubt that a fairly large gap in age distance is exactly what cougars are looking for when they’re on the hunt for younger men. Cougars date younger men to help them feel young again—they are looking for the excitement and exuberance that comes with young dating and they are hoping to find that with you.

There’s something extra to be said about young love and for many cougars it is a joy they no longer experience—because, well, they aren’t young—yet still deeply desire and long for. They then in turn seek out young men to give them that tiny taste of all the excitement and innocence that young dating entails so they can fulfill this craving, or empty hole, within themselves.

It’s Refreshing

There’s little that compares to the refreshing feeling one gets when trading in for a newer model. And—kind of, sadly—this can be said for people as well. Cougars are looking for that newer, more up-to-date and in-tune model that can refresh their needs and desires.

Most people generally spend the majority of their time working and hanging out with other people similar to their age. After doing that for 50+ years, especially in the dating world and in the sack, things probably tend to get a bit familiar and bland. So by finding someone 20, 30 years younger than themselves, cougars are theoretically stepping into an entirely different generation where things are not only new and forward thinking, but also refreshing.

They Want a Boy-Toy

Just as young men gain a “Sugar Momma,” cougars are in turn gaining a “Boy-Toy” and they are looking for exactly that. Cougars enjoy being the older, more mature and seasoned person in the relationship and, in a sense, taking care of her new cub.

They love to spoil and provide for their young studs, almost revealing their motherly instincts that most women tend to have in one form or another. Like mentioned in the earlier section, cougars seek out young men to have the refreshing and newer model. And as most people do when they receive a newer model of an item, they will like to show you off and take good care of you.

Younger men, to cougars, are sometimes nothing but a newer and more-fit, real-world sex toy—or, even, nothing more than a toy…a boy-toy.

Seeking Someone Energetic and Active

It’s no secret or miracle that young people are more active and energetic than older people. They tend to be in better shape, get outside more often and overall have better health. The thing is though, cougars are generally in great shape as well, as they know how important that can be in the young, appearance-driven dating world.

That being said, they tend to enjoy someone who is just as active and in shape, if not even more. They’re tired of old men with canes and bad backs, they want young men with a spring in their step and a rock in their hips…if you know what I mean.

Younger people tend me more energetic about life in general and carry such optimism for the future. This type of positivity and outlook on the world can be contagious and better inspire those around it. Cougars are looking for exactly that and hope to find it with younger men while out on hikes, seeing a play, and especially in bed.

Prime Years

As just talked about, young adults tend to be active and enthusiastic, educated and informed, yet still creative and immature enough to have a hell of a time—many people like to call this time of their life their “prime.”

The very depressing thing about prime years is that they come to an end, and, being your prime years, you never experience anything better. Or that’s what they say, at least. So, when cougars realize that their prime years are behind them, but they still want to feel sexy and daring and even a bit careless, they surround themselves with people in those exact moments in their lives.

And it relates to the “new model” theory I proposed earlier. Being in their prime years, these young men that cougars are hunting for are usually the best of the bunch and the number one option out there.

Modern Men

I believe it’s safe to say that young men are fairly more modern than their fathers and those that came before them. Whether it’s in fashion style, technology or the latest breaking news, younger men tend to be more up-to-date and in the know.

Cougars desire that feeling of being in the thick of it all—the newly-accepted culture norms, the latest styles, the newest slang, the hottest social media apps, what’s hot and what’s not. Basically, they wish to be young again, but since that isn’t possible, they decide to go for younger men.

Younger men know what the latest buzz is and that what was relevant yesterday is no longer relevant today; and sometimes all cougars wish to feel is relevant.

Still Have So Much to Lea

Cougars understand that they are much older, and they also understand that with their age come priceless experiences and life-lessons. They’ve been around the block a few times and been there and done that. The young men they prey on still have so much to learn about life and cougars understand exactly that.

Whether cougars find it cute and innocent or want to help bestow some life experience upon them, a young man always tends to think he has it all figured out until someone bursts his bubble without him even seeing it coming. But until then, cougars will enjoy and thrive on the optimism and positive outlook that he has on the world and hope it rubs off on them.
